College planning begins in Middle School and unfolds through a clear, intentional progression from Grades 5 to 12. Each stage helps students build self-awareness, explore interests, and move toward university pathways that reflect their goals and potential.
Explore interests, build skills, and shape academic identity In Grades 5 - 8, students begin their college pathways journey by discovering academic interests and emerging passions through career fairs, exploratory activities, and exposure to upper-grade counseling experiences. Counselors guide students and families as they explore extracurricular opportunities, build long-term plans, and strengthen self-awareness.
Kick off high school with personalized counselor meetings
Grade 9 marks the start of focused college preparation. Each family meets individually with a college counselor to build rapport, share interests, and identify support needs.
Together, students and counselors design a four-year roadmap aligning coursework, testing, and activities with long-term goals.
Freshmen begin active college exploration through College Rep Visits and College Fair field trips, gaining early exposure to and experience with admissions representatives.
Expand college vision with deeper exploration In Grade 10, Sophomores and their families explore the value and variety of college education and set more detailed goals based on students' Grade 9 performance. Counselors work closely with each student to develop personalized testing timelines and strategic study plans, including PSAT preparation and, for advanced learners, opportunities to qualify for the National Merit Scholarship Program.
Turn aspirations into university pathways In Grade 11, our students typically enroll in the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP) and work closely with their counselor to ensure extended essays, CAS projects, and extracurricular activities align with college aspirations. Juniors deepen connections with college representatives through fairs and campus visits and begin while refining balanced college lists, including options in the U.S. and abroad. The year centers on completing standardized testing and leveraging the summer for internships, research, nonprofit work, or pre-college programs that strengthen admissions profiles.
Navigate admissions with expert support Senior year represents the culmination of each student’s college journey. Counselors work closely with students and families to finalize college lists, guide essay development, secure impactful recommendations, and manage the application process.
Families remain actively involved, supported by real-time guidance that reduces stress and builds confidence.
As decisions are released, students reflect on their journey and prepare to transition to top universities in the U.S. and around the world with clarity and purpose.
